Piazza del Campo is the principal public space of Siena, Tuscany, Italy and is one of Europe's greatest medieval squares. The open site was a marketplace established before the thirteenth century on a sloping site near the meeting point of the three hillside communities that coalesced to form Siena: the Castellare, the San Martino and the Camollia. Brick it’s the principal construction material used in this plaza because of its antique and it creates some sort of effect mixing the buildings with the streets like if it is one big structure that somehow is connected. It gives the city a medieval look that can be modern as well, it’s not an ancient place that can only be visited for historical reasons, but it has so much history within like a big museum, a gate between the past and the present.
